I was born and grew up in Switzerland. Throughout my life I have enjoyed drawing, painting, designing and construction. During my twenties I was drawn to painting in watercolor, a fascination that has not left me since. During that time I participated in various courses and was influenced by Austrian artist Kurt Panzenberger and Swiss artist Adi Matli.
After immigrating to New Zealand I became involved in the early movement of earth building, which led me together with my wife Vera to design and build an ecological lodge in Golden Bay under the name of Sans Souci Inn. Designing menus, presenting food in an aesthetically pleasing way, creating advertising pamphlets and later on drawing plans and building our private home next door were outlets for my creativity for a number of years. Since 2020 I am fortunate to be devoting most of my time to painting. Modern technology enables me to learn and find inspiration from local and international tutors and artists. My artistic philosophy is one of perpetual exploration, an ongoing dance with subjects, design elements, techniques, and materials. The joy lies not in the certainty of results, but in the boundless possibilities that unfold through experimentation. Each painting is an expression of my passion, a testament to the ever-evolving nature of my artistic spirit. As I continue this odyssey of creativity, I invite you to join me in a visual journey that transcends boundaries and speaks to the soul. Through my paintings, I aim to capture the human experience, translating emotions, stories, and the beauty of the world. |
